Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC

22 permanent houses constructed with funding aid from Caritas Swiss and Swiss Solidarity were handed over to the beneficiaries in Valaipadu in Poonahari DS Division of Kilinocchchi District on 18th February 2012. On this occasion, 50 fishing boats complete with engines and nets as well as 20 canoes with nets were also distributed among resettled families of the area. The  Guests of Honour at the event were Very Rev Fr Justin Gnanapragasam, Vicar General of Jaffna Diocese,   Ms Anina Feller of Caritas Swiss, Rev Fr George Sigamoney - National Director of Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC and Brigadier  Chandana Kodituwakku - Lieu Commander of 66  Division Poonahari representing the Security Forces Commander of Kilinochchi. A message from the Chief Guest,  Major General G A Chandrasiri, Governor of the Northern Province was read out on this occasion due to his inability to be present. Mr S Sirinivasan, Additional District Secretary of Kilinochchi, Mr Vasanthakumar , Divisional Secretary of Poonahari and Rev Fr A V Sylvesterthas - Parish Priest of Valaipadu were also present as Special Guests.

The arrangements for the event were made under the guidance of Rev.Fr. A. Yavis, Director of Caritas Vanni – HUDEC.
