Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC

A group of 45 women belonging to the Women Rural Development Society (WRDS) covering the villages of Vettayamurippu, Alaiyadiputhukulam and Parappakkadandan in Mannar District attended a 5-day business training workshop held from 9th – 13th July 2012 in Adampan. The training modules were based on the concepts of Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) and Generate Your Business (GYB). The workshop participants were mostly women from war-affected and internally displaced families.

Mr S Keethaponkalan, Assistant Program Manager of Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC and Mr S A Rajakariar, Program Officer of Caritas Mannar Valvuthayam were the resource persons at the training workshop which was arranged under the guidance of Rev Fr S Jeyabalan, Director of Valvuthayam and included components such as identification of viable business ideas, market analysis, preparation of business plan and accounting methods.

The overall program to support WRDS members  is funded by Caritas Swiss.
