Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC

A series of 3-day training workshops on microfinance were conducted by Caritas Sri Lanka during the past few months for groups of Diocesan staff who implement micro credit schemes for the empowerment of  the poor, especially the marginalised  rural communities. In February, a group from the Dioceses of Kandy, Badulla, Ratnapura and Galle participated in a training workshop held in Tholangamuwa while in March a group from the Dioceses of Anuradhapura, Chilaw and Kurunegala. Both these were in the Sinhala medium at the same venue. A Tamil medium workshop for participants form the Dioceses of Mannar, Jaffna and Trincomalee/Batticaloa was also held in May in Vavuniya.
