Peace Building Training Workshop for South Asia

On an initiative of Caritas Asia, a 10-day Peace Building Training Workshop will be hosted by Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC for around 40 Caritas Peace Activists from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka from 20th to 29th September 2011.

This Training of Trainers (TOT) program is expected to prepare the participants to play an active role in peace efforts in their own countries while at the same time strengthening South Asian mechanisms to address peace and human rights issues in the Region.

Rev Fr Marianus Kujur SJ from the Indian Social Institute will be the Chief Resource Person for the training sessions which will be held at Paradise Beach Hotel, Negombo. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held on 21st September at 9.00 am at the same venue.

A Caritas Sri Lanka publication titled “Guidebook on Human Rights from the Religious Perspective” will also be launched during the inauguration ceremony where the Chief Guest will be His Excellency Most Rev Dr Joseph Spiteri, Apostolic Nuncio while His Excellency Bruce Levy, High Commissioner for Canada in Sri Lanka will be a Guest of Honour.
