Child Rights Training for Prison Officials

A group of 98 newly appointed Grade I and Grade II Prison officers participated in a 2-day capacity building workshop on "Management of Child Abuse and Child Rights within a Child Rights Framework" held at the SEDEC auditorium on 19 & 20 September 2011 under the Caritas Child Protection Program.
The Resource Persons were Dr Prathiba Mahanama -Senior Lecturer, University of Colombo, Mr Shan Senanayake, Attorney-at-law, Rev Sr Nilanthi Ranasinghe - Psychological Counsellor, Ms Sanjeevani Abeyakoon, Attorney-at-Law and Mr Merril Wijayasinghe - Senior Probation Officer in the Western Province.
