The heavy rains accompanied by lightning and thunder have continued over the last 24 hours in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces in Sri Lanka. Up to now 4 persons have been killed and 175,000 persons from 40,000 families have been displaced and many wounded. Initial reports said that 160 houses had been damaged by floods.

A delegation of Bishops visited villages in Mannar where people have been resettled together with officials from Caritas Sri Lanka who organized the event.
