K.A. Roopika Nandani is married and was living in her husband’s parental house. Her husband is a fisherman. Before the tsunami, there were three families living in this house, located just thirty metres away from the sea. |

Padma Vinodhahewa and her husband, Palitha made a living by making leather bags and belts for almost 8 years. They had 7 employees working under them. The Tsunami completely destroyed their business. Six months after the tsunami SED-Galle sub office, Matara helped to get their means to livelihood back on track. |

Sixteen (16) year old Philipinthas is from Vettilaikerny area. He is in Grade 10 and is studying at Kopay Mahavidiyalayam (school). Since 2005, Philipinthas has received support from the Children’s programme of Caritas Jaffna – HUDEC. |
