The Training Unit's duty is to assist programme implementation and improve diocesan staff's performance through regular training schemes.

The Unit supports and collaborates with all Caritas Sri Lanka's sectors in capacity building, livelihood training, peace-building and leadership. One such assignment was to intervene at school level at the request of the National Peace Programme Unit, to lecture on non-violent communication and non-violent conflict resolution.

Since the Tsunami hit the coastline of Sri Lanka , we have also been supporting affected dioceses in building organisational and staff capacity.

Nationally renowned, the unit is extending its training proficiency to non-governmental organisations such as the Anti-War Front and the National Christian Council.
