Representatives of the Karibu Foundation, based in Oslo, Norway visited Sri Lanka recently and made a courtesy visit to SEDEC on 26th of March 2019 with the objective of learning the activities that SEDEC has been implementing in peace and religious amity projects.

The Karibu Foundation has a long history in supporting alternative voices from the Global South that provide alternatives to the dominant paradigms of power, distribution, and development.

It networks with the organizations that work for a just world and strategically cooperate with these organizations and networks and support network-building processes.

In this context, Karibu Foundation hopes to cooperate with local organizations like SEDEC and intends to establish in Sri Lanka.

At the meeting, Karibu was represented by Mr. Eilert L. Rostrup, Director, Karibu Foundation, Oslo, Norway, Mr. Rifat Odeh Kassis, General Coordinator, Kairos Palestine, Ms. Muna Nasser, Project Coordinator, Kairos Palestine and Rev. Munthur Isaac, Board Member, Karibu Foundation.

SEDEC Team led by Rev.Fr. Mahendra Gunatilleke, National Director, Mr. K. Thevindirarajah, Senior Programme Manager, Mr. Priyantha Fernando, Manager, SJ&SP Unit, Mr. Freddie. Jayawardena, Programme Executive Officer and members of the SJ&SP Unit joined in the discussion.

During the meeting, Mr. K. Thevindirarajah explained the general background information of the work Caritas Sri Lanka-SEDEC implement  throughout Sri Lanka via its Diocesan Centres.

A video titled ‘COEXISTENCE’ depicting the peace and religious amity activities of Caritas Sri Lanka-SEDEC was shown and was well appreciated by the visiting team.
