Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC successfully organized an impactful workshop on September 15, 2023, aimed at enhancing the partnering capabilities of their Diocesan Project Coordinators and National Coordinators (NC) staff. The event, held at the SEDEC Auditorium in Colombo, brought together a diverse group of dedicated professionals eager to develop and refine their partnering skills.
The primary objective of this workshop was to empower Caritas Sri Lanka staff with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective collaboration. This encompassed various aspects of partnership, including coalition building, networking, and the practical application of their learning in their day-to-day work. The ultimate aim was to improve the efficiency and impact of Caritas Sri Lanka’s projects by establishing meaningful partnerships and working closely with like-minded organizations. This collaborative effort is vital to ensure the sustainability and success of their initiatives, especially when working with limited budgets in different dioceses.
The workshop was expertly facilitated by Mr. W. Sudesh N. Rodrigo, Zonal Manager-Field Operations at World Vision Lanka. Mr. Rodrigo brought a wealth of experience and insights to the event, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of effective partnership strategies.
During the workshop, Rev. Fr. Luke Nelson, the National Director of Caritas Sri Lanka, emphasized the pivotal role that effective partnerships play in fulfilling their mission and achieving their goals. He highlighted the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and shared vision in addressing the complex challenges faced by the organization.
Participants wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to engage in this collaborative space, actively participating in various group activities specially designed to foster teamwork, knowledge exchange, and practical skills development. These activities encouraged staff to think creatively, communicate effectively, and build trust among team members.
As the program concluded, the participants expressed their deep gratitude for the invaluable insights gained during the workshop. They recognized that these enhanced skills would undoubtedly enable them to work more efficiently, harmoniously, and effectively with other stakeholders in their shared mission of providing humanitarian assistance to those in need.
Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC has a long history of serving the marginalized and vulnerable communities in Sri Lanka, and their commitment to strengthening partnerships is a testament to their dedication to making a lasting impact.
